The Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter of

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated

New Mexico’s first African-American Greek-letter organization, chartered on March 18, 1967, and serving the community ever since.

Our PAST

It all started in 1967...

Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter members. Date unknown.

On March 18, 1967, fifteen awe-inspiring Delta Women living in Albuquerque, New Mexico chartered the Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.  The charter members were, Jennie Brown, Margaret Carson, Euola Cox, Sara Davis, Fannie Dawson, Buena Vista Green, Uline Hughes, Artis Hopkins, Lauretta Loftus, Joy Malry, Dorothy McNeil, Anna Swaim, Alfreda Taylor, Ellie Warren, and Ina Webb.

Central in our history are projects that support families and improve conditions for those underrepresented in our community. These projects have traditionally included holiday charity drives, Kwanzaa celebrations, and community workshops.

Our PRESENT

Celebrating over 50 years in the community...

The Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter has had a number of highlights in our 50+ year existence.  Among these include hosting three Southwest Regional Conferences which brought thousands of visitors and millions of dollars into the Albuquerque economy.

We continue to expand our public service with programs like the African American Read-In, Dress for Success clothing drive, Habitat for Humanity projects, Roadrunner Food Bank volunteering, Delta Red Carpets, Adopt-A-Highway, World AIDS Day vigil, school supply drives, and voter registration, education, and mobilization efforts to name a few.

We love to partner with members of our community! Contact us for more information.
